There is a common misconception that only smartphone users can access the Internet from their mobile phones. However, in emerging markets across the world, hundreds of millions of people are accessing the web from basic feature phones. These feature phone users are surfing the web, downloading music, checking their Facebook and Twitter profiles, and even downloading apps, all on their basic mobile phones.
The objective of this infographic is to highlight the vast number of consumers in emerging markets who have access to the Internet through their mobile phones. While less than a decade ago, web access was limited only to those with access to an Internet cafe or a costly PC, today, mobile web is rapidly approaching ubiquity.
