Nathan Eagle

Co-founder, CEO

As one of the world’s foremost experts on mobile phones in emerging markets, Dr. Nathan Eagle brings many years of experience to his position leading Jana.

Dr. Eagle graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a master’s degree in Management Science and Engineering, and a master’s in Electrical Engineering. His Ph.D. from the MIT Media Laboratory on Reality Mining was declared one of the ’10 technologies most likely to change the way we live’ by the MIT Technology Review.

Dan O’Brien

VP of Engineering

As VP of Engineering, Dan runs Jana’s engineering team — a responsibility that includes designing and maintaining the agile engineering process, delegating tasks and responsibilities, and managing personnel.  Oh and he still writes code!  A veteran of the online games industry, Dan spent two years as the Director of Engineering at Zynga Boston, and, before that, was cofounder and VP of Technology at Conduit Labs.

Dan holds a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Craig Lancaster


As Jana’s CTO, Craig is responsible for the scalability and reliability of the Jana platform. Prior to joining Jana, he was most recently the CTO of Zynga Boston, where he was responsible for the technical success of the studio’s efforts. Zynga Boston built and operated Indiana Jones Adventure World, which was named one of the top games of 2011 by Gamasutra and Kotaku, and also developed technology that is now used across Zynga’s flash games. Craig joined Zynga via the acquisition of Conduit Labs. Prior to Conduit Labs, he was Senior Software Architect at Everypoint, where he led the development of a mobile application development platform targeting Java ME feature phones. Craig became hooked on the excitement of building new companies at, where he was a pre-IPO engineer.

Craig holds an AB from Harvard College.

Sheela Subramanian

VP, Global Business Development and Marketing

Sheela Subramanian is Jana’s Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. She leads the business development for Jana’s emerging products, strategic partnerships, and product marketing across the world. Prior to joining Jana, Sheela spent five years at Google, where she led marketing and strategy for a number of consumer- and business-facing products. Most notably, she co-founded Google’s Global Market Development (GMD) team, which grew into a $100M revenue generating organization dedicated to serving Google’s top global customers.

Sheela holds a MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Stanford University.

Yoav Shapira

VP of Product Management

As part of Jana’s product team, Yoav owns the company’s roadmap and determines product priorities, aka “what to build.” This includes product strategy, competitive / marketplace research, user interviews and requirements solicitation, product design, and working with all other groups in Jana towards aligned solutions to our customers’ needs.
Yoav joins Jana from Happier, where he was CTO, building the team and helping code the backend / API, native Android, and web clients for the company’s products, as well as building the team. Prior to Happier, Yoav was the first VP of Engineering at HubSpot, where he built the team and the company’s products between 2007 and 2012, growing from a couple of engineers to more than 50, as the company grew from dozens of customers to thousands of customers.

Yoav is also an active contributor to numerous open source projects, an advisor to several startups in Boston and around the world, and a mentor in various startup programs / accelerators / incubators.
