About Us

Jana means “people”

We help global brands engage directly with people in emerging growth markets via mobile phones.

We work at a global scale: Through our partnerships with more than 235 mobile operators in more than 100 countries, Jana can send airtime rewards to more than 3.48 billion people.

The Jana Mobile Rewards Platform uses airtime rewards to incentivize consumer action. Free airtime has effectively become a universal currency, which Jana uses to engage consumers from Brazil to Vietnam.

Leading brands such as P&G, Unilever, Danone, and Microsoft have used the Jana Mobile Rewards Platform to conduct consumer research, launch product promotions, and create consumer loyalty campaigns.

Founded in 2009 by Nathan Eagle and Ben Olding, Jana changed its name from txteagle in 2011. Jana is derived from the Sanskrit word for “people” – underscoring our commitment to connecting brands with people all over the world. Jana is headquartered in Boston.

“Jana has the technical capability to give minutes to…2.1 billion owners of cell phones. In many parts of the world cell phone minutes are as good as cash, in some ways even better.”

Devin Cole, Boston Globe

“There’s $200 billion spent on advertising in the developing world. If we can redirect less than half of that…that amounts to giving a billion people a 5 percent raise.”
